The 7-14mm looks awlfully big but may be all right on the E-M1.

just add a tc x1.4 sometime for that 300mm f/4 and it starts looking exceedingly for the super tele guys?

Finally a high quality m4/3 telephoto lens. I just hope the price won't be ridiculous.

Well, 600mm f8 FF equivalent is interesting. But that 1.4x TC will push it to f11.... A lot of tele though, yes.

The 'F8' equvialency is only for DOF; and while you can argue it is relevant to total light gathering; it is also very misleading esp when one is concern about shutter speed not light gathering. Yes the lens gather less total light because the sensor is smaller but the amount of light that strikes a certain spot is the same whether the lens is designed for 6x7 or 4/3. So it is a 600F4 lens equivalent with regards to shutter usage (ability to stop motion) and I think that is the relevant point.

If you shift the argument to FF can use higher iso with less noise then there will be a long debate on just how much higher can the ISO be with with camera; after all the fuji apsc does quite well compared to the 5d Mk 3; so perhaps we shouldn't go in that direction ?

It's still a f4 lens in terms of light gathering capability.

Also, f8 at 600mm is plenty thin enough.

Well, these 2 lenses will be in my kit as soon as they're out.  I had the ZD 7-14 F/4 and wanted another stop and a smaller lens so I sold it. Now I can have that F/2.8 lens and my hope is it will be smaller.  And a 300/4 was always one of the MIA lenses in the ZD lineup (who could afford the 300/2.8???).  I do agree that a 1.4X for the m.Zuikos would be nice, however, I've been experimenting with the digital in-camera doubler and, while it gives only a jpg out, it is a really nice jpg which, with this lens, would be a 1200mm (35mm equiv) focal length.

Just imagine then what you could do with the digital doubler : 1680mm equiv ;-) but then, what could you do with a cropped D800E image :-)
