Forums > Back > Suggestion for external USB universal charger
#1
In the past year I've been gifted with two small portable USB chargers (2000mah and 2500mah) and I think they are useful stuff, for generic purposes, including photography. I keep one in my laptop bag and one in my photo bag.

Now, seeing that they are quite cheap, I'm interested in buying one of about 15000mah/20000mah: it would be larger, but it would sit in my photo bag and be useful for photography and trekking. Note that I'm not a great trekker, and I seldom go in remote trails where I could get lost, but... perhaps I'd like to do in future. Having a quite powerful charger would make sure that the mobile phone can be used for a very long time; furthermore, some have an embedded torch light.

My big concern is about safety... Powerful batteries could catch fire and, since the thing would also sit for a long time at home or in the car, I wouldn't see those burned... Most products have excellent ratings on Amazon, but with a not negligible amount of 1-stars.

Do you have suggestions, in particular about a reliable manufacturer?

I have the Platinet 20000
which I specifically bought to charge my Macbook 12“. Unfortunately, it doesn't.

The Anker PowerCore 20100 was the one I wanted since they actually advertise that it would charge the said Macbook. The seller couldn't deliver it so I bought the Platinet instead.

Other devices seem OK, including a number of different phones for the family as well as an iPad.

The charger gets somewhat hot but not overly so.
