They have two variants - dedicated and threaded.

I am slightly wondering how the threaded one stays in the desired position.

Funny that the commercial for a lens hood product is filmed with constant veiling. The videographer kinda missed the point.

On the paper it is very interesting at least as a lens cap, dunno how protective it is.

After several accidents, I know that a hood is very protective without deteriorating image quality,  (often it has a positive effect), in my book it is  better for protection than a UV and I have hoods for every singe  lens I use.

I am not sure if this one is solid and offers good protection, anyway I will check if it is shipped to Lebanon and order one for trial, thanks for sharing

It is a metal lens hood it seems.

Honestly I am a lens hood hater - because of the bulk and the cumbersome attaching/detaching.

This feels like a good compromise.

Once I was using a polarizer, the hood was a nightmare, otherwise I feel it's a must. As for lens caps...it's a different story I constantly lose them, I have spare caps with me now.

Well, eventually you don't need spare caps, there will be plenty to pick up that you lost earlier...  Rolleyes
