What is a contemporary lens (i.e, the 100-400)? Does that suggeset it will not be in the same league as an art lens ?
Well if 24-70f2.8 OS ART is good enough, finally in Canon land there's an alternative to 17-55f2.8 IS, I still have my full frame gear, will wait before selling.
This one should be a hit, let's see size and weight of 135mm f1.8, anyway canon 135mmf2.0 is hard to beat.
As for the 100-400,unless price argument dunno where is her place between the 150-600 and the excellent Canon 100-400 that is very decent and almost one stop faster
I'm pretty sure there will not be a Sports-version of the 100-400 - it's meant as a Superzoom for those who are not happy with only 70-300. A lot of the C series is only in that series, there's no 17-70 Art or Sports. The Fuji 100-400 also has f/4.5-5.6, but I reckon the Sigma will be around half the price and still decent enough.
Today I saw three lenses we recently talked about: The 105/1.4 G, the Sigma 85/1.4 A and the 500/4 S. The Nikon is already a nice bucket, but the Sigma throws enough shadow to make the Nikon disappear ^_^ the 85, that is. Extrapolating the 85/1.4 to 135/1.8 I imagine a thing which will nearly be as big as a 200/2. Good luck with handling (and finetuning) this monster on a DSLR.
The 500/4 looks really cool.
120-400??? I know of a 120-300/2.8 Sports but the one you mention I could not find at Sigma US or DE - do I need to look a RU?
Only M82 for the 135/1.8 - the theoretical ø is 75 mm for the glass. M82 would be a bit close to the front lens? The 24-105 has M82, too, but only f/4 - I doubt the 135/1.8 will be so tiny. The 85/1.4 has M86 (front lens theoretical ø 60.7 mm)
I guess Zeiss won't be the only one to offer such lens.
Do you think Sigma will use APO element?
