A few things I noticed:

  1. Nikon a surprising nr 1 in compact cameras in Japan.
  2. Canon (57.4%), Nikon (39.3%) and Pentax (3.1%) have 99.8% of the DSLR market. That leaves 0.2% to be divided between Sony and Leica.
  3. Canon takes #1 spot in the mirrorless interchangeable lens camera category.

P900 and P1000, I suppose. Those are selling in spades even in Europe. For birders or casual wildlife photographers (very casual) they are like a dream came true.

I have read also that among compact cameras Olympus TG5 was selling quite well, compact with excellent performance, rugged, waterproof and dustproof

Top 3 consists of Sony, Olympus and Canon since 2016. What are the other player? Panasonic and Fuji, basically (Nikon only entered just now)?

2016, top 3 -> 73.1%
2017, top 3 -> 63.2%
2018, top 3 -> 69,2%
2019, top 3 -> 77,8%

Looks like Panasonic + Fuji keep losing market share. No wonder Panasonic is looking at the lucrative FF market, as they keep losing in the small mirrorless market since 2011 where they were market leader. But Fuji?
