At whom do they aim that lens?  Seems heavy and unbalanced, otherwise there wouldn’t be such a massive tripod mount.  Studio use?

Just looks like a 70-200, so I don't think it's going to be too big and unwieldy.

Not the 28-70/2 level of bulky, either.

Cinema producers will surely love this lens... on tripod weight and size are never a problem, managing a sharp parfocal 24-105f2.8 lens that's a big engineering challenge.
I expect this lens to be rather popular among professionals, it is also important to impress customers when they come to book a photographer, they usually check his gear and the more impressive the gear he has, the higher the chance they choose him, regardless if this gear is needed for the event or no....

I doubt it will be very large and cumbersome since it only resembles a 70-200.

It’s not bulky and has a potato-like look. I’m still not sure what the “Z” in the name stands for?

The Z seems to refer to powerZoom. I reckon they didn't want to use PZ because that has been "taken" by Sony.
