It could be true, since the Tamron 18-400mm f/3.5-6.3 Di II VC HLD has been put out of production this year.

Massive digital corrections are obviously expected, owners will have to live with compromises obviously

The 18-300mm is/was an APS-C lens ... the 20-400mm seems to be FF ...

And at least 6 focal lengths to be tested if the lens were to be reviewed (provided that it's real to start with, of course).
