Something happened to the tested (purchased) sample.

The initial sample images taken a couple of months ago were better than recent samples.

Time for servicing I guess ...

Damn... is it me or Pentax's QC is just becoming worse and worse?

Perhaps the second sample will have better IQ (fingers crossed)

It's like the Pentax gods are trying everything they can to prevent you from testing new lenses <img src='http://forum.photozone.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Wink' />

Well its about the same really. IMHO it seems other manufacturers have dropped down to Pentax level of QC. I believe the very tight market has forced all players to play on the same field. I could go into a long story full of examples and reference. The story would start with the K10D and DA*16-50mm, and end with Nikons D7000, Canons 7D and the Pentax K5 and some lens.

What bothers me about Pentax service with lens is I fear they will check Klaus lens and send it back with a note saying "adjusted to manufacturer specs" and it will perform the same as the day he shipped it out. Or if lucky the delivery man will toss the box down and it will get knocked back into alignment. That's the best chance of it being fixed; and this from a Pentax fanboy. I do hope he gets a new copy however.

If so (returning an unfixed lens) they will wake up with an unfortunate test result. :-)

You have indeed little luck with the Pentax K5 based tests! First the K5 modification giving unfortunate effects, and now this. Hoping this difficult start will lead to a smooth run in future!
