I totally agree with you. Especially some shops listed very low prices for items which stock is 0 (zero). But it is probably marketing purpose. At the other hand, four years ago I bought my d200 for price around 1090 € (avgust 2007), nowadays can buy d300s for 1070 € (halfpro body on the end of life circle, four years difference and almost the same price level)?!? Such comparing is really useless.

I will stand corrected! <img src='http://forum.photozone.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Sad' /> I have checked again today and the only price that has gone down is the D300s. Otherwise I see an almost 10% increase for the D700 and the FF transstandards. Some of the less popular lenses have gone up a couple of procent. My guess is that this will not last for long. The Japanese plants ar back in operation and they will pick up lost volume soon.

The price comparison sites are not a good indicator. They usually base price trends on the lowest price listed, regardless of if its in stock or not.

So, you can still find many price listings for rather low prices, it's just that no one has stock for these low prices (and prices are maybe increased only after new stock arrives).

To give you an indication: just a few weeks ago the 70-200 VR II was available for 1829,- EUR at cameratools.nl (and some other Dutch dealers). They are now at 1949,- EUR (and some others even higher). Which is still less than the cheapest reseller in Germany that actually has stock.

Same thing for the AF-S 24-70, was 1389 EUR, now is 1549 at cameratools.

Just two examples of many more.

I understand that Canon is trying to establish similar pricing across Europe now. I wonder how and if this will work ....

Also, you'll find that many Dutch shops only mark up their prices by about 10-12 % above cost and VAT. I don't think they will be able to continu this for too long, with the exception with MediaMarkt, at least for some of the products. Foto Konijnenberg already has increased their prices quite a lot compared to 6 months ago. They used to be amongst th echeapest around, but they no longer are.

Kind regards, Wim
Gear: Canon EOS R with 3 primes and 2 zooms, 4 EF-R adapters, Canon EOS 5 (analog), 9 Canon EF primes, a lone Canon EF zoom, 2 extenders, 2 converters, tubes; Olympus OM-D 1 Mk II & Pen F with 12 primes, 6 zooms, and 3 Metabones EF-MFT adapters ....
