Following up this post I got a new replacement from Tamron today
Took a few quick pics when I got home from work... Dull light, been raining here today and it was getting late...
These 3 (here) are the best of a few at 300mm... I found it difficult to get the focus spot on and had to stop down (f11 wasn't as sharp).
These were taken with tripod and infra-red remote (mirror up first, then release shutter).
I'm still wondering: is this as sharp as I should expect from this lens at 300mm?
I'll do the decentering 'sanity' checks over weekend when I've got more time.
I am glad to have this lens back..! <img src='http://forum.photozone.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> ...even if it is going to fill the sandwich space in my new bike-friendly bag..! <img src='http://forum.photozone.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />
