After all the recent Nikon lens test rush it's time for an EOS test again I guess ...

Now if they just had replaced the huge front filter thread with a drop-in solution ...

The non-OS version tempted me in the past, until I ended up with a used 300/2.8 non-IS for cheap. I do miss not having zoom though, so the OS version is now interesting to me (until the canon '400 extender anyway...) Will this also be reviewed on APS-C? I'd be really interested in with teleconverter performance too but if memory serves me right they're not available?

And that is your only problem? <img src='http://forum.photozone.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' />

Looks like a great lens for a sport photographer on the budget. 7D and this lens should yield top results in the hand of a capable photographer.

And kudos to Sigma for making novel lens designs no one else makes.

Well, it was one of the main issues I had with the non-OS. Shooting motorsport or airplanes, I always use a polarizer to suppress reflections.

First of all, 105mm polarizers are hard to get and cost a fortune. And at least on the non-OS the filter was impossible to adjust with the hood mounted. I don't think this has changed with the redesign.

Yes, I don't want this lens any less now, thanks! <img src='http://forum.photozone.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Tongue' />

Exchanging the Pentax 60-250mm DA* with a 50-135mm DA* and this Sigma 120-300mm 2.8.

Wow I'm impressed by the numbers for the design (even if the edges are a bit weak) but the weight; are you going to take that on your next mountain forage ?

Thanks Klaus! This lens has always made me curious since the announcement and your results are very promising.

Can I repeat the request made in the posts above?

Performance with teleconverters would also be interesting to many of the intended users of this lens... Sigma or Canon, putting a 1.4x TC on this to make it a 180-420/f4 is very attractive... but the question is , how does the quality hold?

Thanks,

Subhrashis

There are no plans for an APS-C review nor converters. I'm aware of the need but we can't keep lenses for a long period of time.

Klaus, this is an incredibly important review as the lens is very new. Please try to make an effort for an APS-C review.
