Very nice ...

oh indeed...

I like the power switch on the lens. And the manual zoom. And the viewfinder...

I am certainly in love. <img src='http://forum.photozone.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/cool.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='B)' />

Let's hope the built quality is no issue like with former EXR models.

Let's hope the pricing stays "within range" (not like the wonderful but in daily live limiting X100)

Let's hope the nowadays moderate 12MP on a "large" sensor plus EXR allow for crisp pictures up to ISO800.

Do you think the optical viewfinder is good? 85% coverage doesn´t sound impressive. Nice retro-styling but I would still prefer the Pana LX5 because it goes wider (24 mm).

Agreed 24mm would have been nicer but also more difficult to design.

I consider the viewfinder to be a fall-back for extreme situations. It will not be great fore sure but better than nothing (like on the LX5).

The manual zoom ring is nice.

What I don't like is the protruding lens with its dedicated lens cap. It's understandable from a design and quality perspective but as such it is probably not any more pocketable than a GF-3 with the upcoming X standard zoom.

That's the way I see it, a back up, but a nice one in terms of UI. It seems to have this x100 fashion overlay.

How big is this sensor ? I.e, I've gotten confused; is this the same size as the g2/zx-1p or is it closer to 4/3 ?

I.e, does this compete against the olympus zx-1p which has a similar fast lens ?
#8
It is closer to the 1/1.7 than it is to m43.

The Fuji X10 sensor size (2/3") is close to other "enthusiast" compacts like the Panasonic LX5, the Canon S95, and the Olympus XZ-1.

It has a 4x crop factor. That's not too bad (8.8x6.6mm = 58 sqmm).

1/1.7" = 6.6x5.3mm = 35 sqmm.

So the X10 sensor is 65% bigger than in the other "enthusiast" digicams.

It's still much smaller than 4/3 (@225 sqmm)
