My doubts about a monochrome sensor is not with the camera/sensor but with the printers ...... getting a truly black and white image with no colour tint seems the hardest part which requires a very expensive printer with many     cartridges ...... dark grey, light grey etc ..... true black and white prints seem a big test which even when paying for prints on very expensive professional printing machines which still left a hint of of colour bias (often green) which of course was never an issue with silver based printing paper .......
ink printing also is susceptible to changing colour bias over time ...

Nothing to do with the introduction of this new Pentax B/W  camera ..... just saying !!

Well, it's probably more a matter of money, isn't it?
But yes, a standard ink printer may not be up to the task.

Regarding the camera - I'm probably repeating myself, but Pentax is designing some truly beautiful cameras.
It's such a pity that they never really made the leap into mirrorless. This reminds me that I've still a Q-S1 somewhere in the closet. lol

I hope Pentax will stay around. The market needs a bit of quirkiness.

Actually my experiences were from two to three years ago when a friend and I were using a local printing shop which used a large pro Canon printer .... looking around reveals huge advances in both B/W printing quality and a fall in prices especially from Epsom multi tank models at around the €700 (A3+ .. six tanks) ... two years is clearly a long time in photography!
Pentax could well have hit upon a winner here, with it's large OVF and traditional DSLR handling ... it could well turn out to be a classic ......

funny calling a DSLR traditional already ... Smile

Edit ...... I wonder if it still has the K3 III's pixel shift ?
