Over from Fuji rumors: Upcoming firmware updates for X-T2 and X-Pro2

"They", aka Patrick, count 33 added or improved functions, but some of them are only for one of the two bodies.

Nonetheless, some improvements I was looking forward to for quite a while. I tip my hat, Fujifilm!

Auto ISO tied to the minimum shutter speed, finally!

#43
That was one of the improvements I thought the same.  Smile

The others were
  • Copyright information into the files
  • Giving the film simulation settings other names than 1...7
  • Re-autofocusing in video recording
  • Voice Memo function
  • Support for computer tethering via Wi-Fi (X-T2 only)
  •  Addition of “-6” and “-7” to EVF’s brightness setting (in darkness, it's not so nice to get blinded by the EVF)
On fast Face-recognition and less hunting AF-C I'm carefully excited - let's see what they could improve.

Altogether, pretty cool, I would just welcome two or three User-settings, but given the density of dials and wheels which will be dificult to override, I don't see that coming soon.

It would also be very cool, if I could backup the settings to a SD card or even transfer them to a second body. For all Fujis... okay, only same type to same type, but keeping more than one body to the same settings should be less difficult

Here are the other things I like:

Shooting RAW in Bracketing and Advanced Filters

Finally the stupid drive switch won't cause you to miss your raw file by accidentaly moving itself into the toy camera mode.

Full-range ISO adjustments with the Command Dial (X-T2 only)

I don't really like that ISO dial. Now make the ISO savable to the user presets too! Like the X-E2 and X-T10

Addition of “Portrait / Landscape AF Mode Switching” (X-T2 only)

Interesting.

Addition of “Eye Sensor + LCD Image Display” in the View Mode

Finally!

Addition of “Shoot Without Card” mode

My boss will be happy to see this one as he shoots without card by accident all the time Smile

Yes, that flimsy drive-dial. And gloves...

Nor do I. On Nikon, I nearly continously use Auto-ISO. On Fuji, Using Auto-ISO in A-mode doesn't show the shutterspeed.

Interesting.
Not sure. Nikon does that, too, I find it pretty confusing and as the EVF is rectangular and not squarish I don't see the real advantages - but maybe nice to have.

He's saving disk-space efficiently.  Big Grin

News from Capture One: The now support (with a very promising beat-version) compressed RAW. I tried a couple of other converters lately, but Capture One blows them away in terms of speed and output quality.

It was about time. But now I rediscovered the fun with camera and software. And since it needs Mac OS 10.11 or 12, it forces me to update the old iMac once again or enjoy it on my MacBook, which is also not the latest model, but the files are a pleasure to browse through. I was rather pissed because they let us Fuji users wait for too long, but now it's forgiven.

Oh, and a nice gesture from On1 (another converter for compressed Fuji RAW): They claimed a 30 days warranty for money back. And they keep their promise. I would love to see more software companies doing this. Their software is alright, but less streamlined and it needs more clicks to get to the result.

Smile
