Yes, it is quite hard to get one.
Significantly better than a dedicated macro lens? ... That's unlikely, albeit the 180/2.5 is very good wide open.
f/2.8 -> f/2.5 is just one third f-stop ... so that's not really worth it.
Seems, your best choice is the 135L.
