No... the reason is that in almost every photography book, on every website/forum hyper focal distance gets rehashed. Most people never read that article, let alone tried it to see the difference. And also, many people have just focussed on the most important subject in scenes, basically Merklinger when that subject is "at infinity", without ever have read his article.



The hyper focal distance idea is old, and lenses came with markings on them for hyper focal distances. With newer, better films, bigger enlargements and especially digital photography it gets more and more clear that HFD has downsides.
