I don't want to get into yet another "what is PF" thread, but the only bit I can agree on is that stopping down would likely fix it. I didn't actually try on the night. I've yet to see any credible evidence to even hint at a modern DSLR sensor as a contributor to the "PF" cause. Also care to link to the specific review you're thinking of? Not sure I've got the right one...
Working on my theory, I do plan on buying a H-alpha filter to substitute the standard red channel. Also my full spectrum modified camera should be back to me within a week so I could use that to investigate my hypothesis of IR contamination.
