I really don´t get your positive feelings about the products. For me, it is big disappointment (on par with the Pentax Q system).
Putting the design issues aside, tell me who is the target group for this? The slightly advanced point-and-shoot shooter? Then it is too expensive above all.... DSLR user wishing to "go light"? Then is lacks manual controls/buttons and it will certainly have worse IQ than APS-C Sony NEX5n for instance.... (= no real interest from this target group). And the lenses, that is disappointment too - what do you actually get by the possibility to change lenses on such a small sensor system (compared to a better ultrazoom)? Overall value for money is bad, too.
No PASM modes, no controls on the body surface, no fast lenses (no bokeh, no backround blurr, simply no DOF control to talk about), higher ISOs will be worse compared to APS-C / m4/3 mirorrless cams, the slow lenses will kill the higher ISOs improvement compared to compact cams (compared to say 1/7sensor compact cam like LX5 with f2 lens), the actual size is not smaller than NEX 5n (which will have much, much higher IQ!), no progressive video mode, lack of hotshoe.....
There is nothing - yes, virtually NOTHING - on the V1/J1 that would clearly better the current competition. In fact, it is behind the competition in many areas despite being the latest product. Actually, I truly believe it is a big relief for Sony&Panasonic&Olympus seeing Nikon V1/J1... (the laugh will follow).
Remember my words: I predict (and I´m sure) this "CX" will be a big failure; in other words, everybody interested in mirorless solution would either go Sony NEX or m4/3 way which can offer more for both the advanced point&shooters and the DSLRs users wanting to "go lighter".
