I really don´t get your positive feelings about the products. For me, it is big disappointment (on par with the Pentax Q system).
I see it clearly ahead of Pentax Q. And the feelings I have are positive compared to what I was afraid we'd get according to the rumor mill <img src='http://forum.photozone.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />
IOW: better than I expected. Much better, actually.
Of course I would have wished for a larger sensor, too. But the sensor size has been obvious since the first patent applications were filed, so it's not really a surprise anymore. I'm really glad though that they went for a 3:2 aspect ratio.
And it seems they put some nice technology in there. The AF for example sounds interesting. Oh, and THANK YOU Nikon for including an EVF in the V1 <img src='http://forum.photozone.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />
Of course the cameras lack a few things that I had hoped for. Wireless iTTL for example. An the two kit zooms don't have focus rings, manual focus is done with camera controls (extra "BOOOH!" for this one, will make testing quite difficult).
And the lenses, that is disappointment too - what do you actually get by the possibility to change lenses on such a small sensor system (compared to a better ultrazoom)?
I guess you'll find that in the field it isn't really so much worse than mFT. Of course they will need to announce some really fast primes in the future (hopefully very near future). The mockups shown at dpreview include a portrait prime. And a "sports" tele zoom ... well, ok <img src='http://forum.photozone.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

No PASM modes
According to dpr both cameras have PASM modes.
Remember my words: I predict (and I´m sure) this "CX" will be a big failure; in other words, everybody interested in mirorless solution would either go Sony NEX or m4/3 way which can offer more for both the advanced point&shooters and the DSLRs users wanting to "go lighter".

Well, at least on paper Nikon1 has the potential to offer a smaller system (including lenses) than Sony NEX.
I'm pretty sure it will sell well.
