Because within 4 pixels you still have only one blue and one red sensel contributing? So if that one red sensel with too high value (noise) contributes a noisy wrong coloured result in 48mp... it will still contribute the wrong value red for all 4 binned pixels?
A 2nd red and 2nd blue pixel would be able to equalize the wrong red and blue values, but then we are talking about 3mp?
