Do you think that the D4 will have a different sensor with less resolution? I doubt that... It would make sense if that rumour was about a 36mp FX camera named "D4x"... Then we could expect that the D800 or D4s would have a less resolution sensor, with more FPS and less noise, which can be compared to 1D-X.
