It seems to me, the VR in the V1 works similar to the VR in DX and FX Nikkor lenses, which is: only partly enabled when the shutter button is half pressed to stabilize the viewfinder image and switching to "full gear" mode when the shutter is released. On the V1, it seems to me the images "jumps" quite a bit the very moment I press the shutter. Maybe the motion blur I see in the images is a results of that jump.
FWIW, Nikon today released firmware updates for all three VR lenses:

The updates adress blurred images which could happen in certain conditions. I'll try to find out if the updates solve the issue.
