Interesting updates.
The DT35 and 85 seem to partially address Sony's α mount weaknesses against Pentax APS-C, 4/3 and μ4/3's - small moderate size/price primes. They also address the fact that the Voigtlaender SL/SL-II series is not available in Alpha mount.
The DT35/1.8 seems to compete against small APS-C normal lenses like the Pentax FA35/2, DA35/2.8 Macro Ltd and DA40/2.8, the VL Ultron 40/2, the Lumix G 20/1.7 Asph.
The 85/2.8 seems to compete with other small moderate aperture short teles available for some other systems, such as the Pentax DA70/2.4 Ltd and the Voigtlaender APO Lanthar 90/3.5. The fact that it is not DT only is probably simply that the full-sensor lens was small and cheap enough without having to shrink it further.
One thing that is weird is that these 2 new lenses would be really nice compact lens focal length additions to the NEX system (NEX 16/2.8 + DT 35/1.8 + 85/2.8 would be a sweet triplet) ... except the α adapter for NEX mount (what the heck is the mount called?) doesn't support AF of α lenses?
