Sylvain, a pancake 12-50/2.8 for m43 that weighs 200 gram and costs $200 is obviously what everyone would want, but we have to be realistic. Nothing comes for free, hence the slow maximum aperture of this lens. Make it f/4.0 at the long end and you can forget about compact size.
As for the benchmark, my point is that you'd be hard pressed to give specific cases (EV, ISO) where the difference between f/4.0 and f/5.6 is that important. I'd be very surprised if you could present a single keeper you took at f/4.0 that you could convincingly claim would be impossible to shoot at f/5.6. Saying f/5.6 is a deal breaker just doesn't make much sense if f/4.0 is ok.
