That most probably will not happen.
Canon had a runaway success with the 5D mk II, for two reasons: high resolution at an (almost) affordable price, and great video features. Nikon had nothing to compete with it, instead they see the D700 with lower sales and competing only with the in-houser D3.
Expect the high-res rumors for the D800 to be true (basically a D3X at almost affordable price).
