Honestly I doubt that the Fuji will be a camera for action photography. They simply lack the expertise regarding object tracking so far. Maybe I'm wrong.
I have no sufficent experience with the NEX 7 yet. I has AF problems in low light but no idea regarding action photography yet.

You are overdoing it and taking it too far... <img src='http://forum.photozone.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> Of course I would´t expect this concept of camera to be downright "excellent in action photography". All I would be perfectly satisfied with would be if it was able to track walking person or reasonably-fast moving kid on a bike...
For instance (...and as you surely know), Nex-7 as well as Panas. G series have marketing presentations of the "great tracking AF capabilities" of moving subjects across the whole frame (like F16 pilot holding/locking the target in the sighting device) which would be absolutely great if it really worked like shown....
But back to Fuji AF... If Nikon can use "hybrid AF" (phase/contrast detect) system in its V1/J1 toys (which allegedly CAN meet all the basic focus tracking requirements), I just regret FUJI couldn´t do it in the XPRO-1 (when it has already brought such a great and sophisticated AF and viewfinder innovations into the old Leica M concept...). It seems to me just a pity to have such a unique, high-end cam intended purely for static scenes... That´s all <img src='http://forum.photozone.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />
