A view that does not give you any clue about exposure and color accuracy ....

Honestly, I preferto have nothing between me and a beautiful scene. A camera is a disturbing part that I'm only accepting for a very short interruption of the real thing.

My OVF does give the scene in the colours it actually is... Not in some odd colours the camera somehow changes it into like an EVF does (due to its WB, its LCD itself, its exposure settings or guess). This gives me a feel of the real light circumstances, the real atmosphere, and then I can decide what kind of image I am going to make. EVF's do not give that feel.

With an OVF, I can get a precise feel of the exposure. Just have to determine what I feel is a mid tone, meter it, and have an exact feel of the exposure. With an EVF, I can not do that. The camera alters what I see through its current settings, making it impossible for me to judge what actually is a mid tone to meter on.

Apart from that you have the flat feel of a screen with an EVF, OVF's feel more 3D.

It is the difference between looking at a real scene (OVF) and making decisions which determine what the image outcome should look like, and looking at an image outcome (EVF) for which the camera has made decisions about what it should look like.

If you prefer to have nothing between you and a scene.... an OVF is closer to that ideal, as it does not mess with its contrast or colour.
