My first impression was SHOCK and HORROR then I did the exercise of hiding the grip parts (which I'm not interested in). Try it, you'll see it looks better, although still a bit blocky form y taste and that big hump remains. Judging by how many grooves there is around this part, I have to agree with some assumption that there might be an extra trick to it. Hard to tell but there might be a hinge and that eyepiece would tilt or move ?



Apart from being ugly, I think it's interesting to see this battery grip. It might be a statement for "we mean business" in the "sport" department. If it matches the rumored "AF" improvements.



Also, nice to see an IR detector for the EVF.
