No reason, just personal taste. I think most people use zoom lenses for their convenience: you don't need to change lenses to get different perspective, while the exsitence of IS/VR is also for convenience, you don't need to use tripod in some situations.
Well, other people may think in a different way: primes are lighter and more compact so are more convenient for them, so primes with IS/VR are charming. But I use primes for better IQ, low distortion, and faster aperture.
