Interesting; so a smaller view but sharper. Hum. Oh well I think I would definitely have to find a shop with both the g3 and em-5 to compare (or better yet if it has g3, em-5, pro-1 and nex 7). The Em-5 sounds like a better camera than the gx1 or g3 though the viewfinder size might be a bit of a negative. Do you agree or disagree ?[/quote]
As for the EVFs - yes! I think one needs to compare them with ones own eyes. Of note, the NEX-7 EVF is probably superior to the G3 but may suffer more drastically in low light :-) The other known fact is that the EM-5 EVF provides a rather small view compared to the others.
So which cam is better? As latest MFT top-model the EM-5 really ought to be the best, but it doesn´t strike me as overly innovative and it will be, at least initially, expensive as well. The GX1 could have been a much better cam (e.g. no multi-aspect sensor, no swivel screen) but Panas model policy is characterized by arbitrarily crippling cams, which is also true for the G3. Having said that I conclude that the GH2 may still be the best of the bunch (it´s Panas video-heavy top model) while the G3 clearly provides the best bang for the buck. A G3 with all GH2 features for taking stills but without the video stuff could have been extremely convincing for photographers like me but Pana thinks differently.
