I was just checking out prices on the D5100 - which would also be worth considering. It has the same 16Mp sensor as the D7000 so effectively offers that image quality at a lower price. DP Review [url="http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/nikond5100/22"]here.[/url]
I then came across [url="http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/offer-listing/B00438QJ3M/ref=dp_olp_new?ie=UTF8&qid=1329993755&sr=8-3&condition=new"]THIS[/url] - D7000 + 18-105 VR kit at £792, which is ridiculously low.
It's from an unestablished source - which makes me think it has to be dodgy at that price..! - but looks like it's via Amazon Marketplace, so protected by Amazon's T&C's there. Just thought I'd point it out in case you're interested.
