The new stuff will be based on the Intel chipset "Ivy Bridge", which will bring better integrated graphics; CPUs, which need less power to run equally fast (or faster) than the previous generation; and most likely USB 3.0. On the other hand, most think that if Apple finally introduces USB 3.0 it will be the end of support for Firewire. Anyhow, there is nothing drastically wrong with the current line of Macbooks or iMacs - if you need one now get one. The Apple refurbished store has sometimes good offers, the hardware is usually as good as new and is sold with full Apple warranty.
