The most interesting part for me.
Some may think that the D800 is the successor to the D700, but we were looking to bring the world a whole new category of camera.
So please Nikon, bring us D4 sensor in D800 body, a legitimate D700 successor.
Even poll at NR suggests that more people would like D4 sensor in semi-pro body than this 36MP, link.

Thom Hogan has a crazy idea about that: A D400 which is equipped with the 16mp FX sensor... Actually he tells that a D400 with a DX 24mp sensor will most probably be the next move... But why not a D400 FX? As the designers mentioned, D800 is the successor of the D3x in terms of sensor specs. So the naming conventions of Nikon seems to be changing <img src='http://forum.photozone.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='
' />... The new D7000 successor (with the 24mp DX) can fill the gaps between D300 & D7000 and move further...
D800s or D400 FX, I don't care... as long as the enhanced AF, new metering and other functionalities are there, I'd like to upgrade to a 16mp FX sensor rather than the 36mp (given that the price will also be more affordable compared to the D800). I hope that the D400 comes sooner to end the yet another rumour complications...
