Nice lens, but I can't quite justify replacing my F/1.8D. I'm fortunate that my 70-200VR2 matches the performance of a number of primes in it's range. In fact, I don't miss wide aperture primes I have to say. The F/2.8 zooms are great at maximum aperture, the wide primes I have, I never use wide-open. This is mainly due to lower contrast at full aperture.
However..... I have only ONCE gone walkabout with both 24-70 and 70-200, each on a body with battery pack
