Could it be the thickness of the filter in front of the sensor? Check [url="http://blogs.zeiss.com/photo/en/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/en_CLB41_Nasse_LensNames_Distagon.pdf"]Nasses (Zeiss Oberkochen) recent publication on Distagons and Biogons[/url], where he compares the Biogon 2.8/21mm on the Leica (thin filter) and on another camera (thicker filter). The MTFs are quite different ... see page 12 of the publication cited above.
