I'm not so sure there is a huge difference between apsc and u4/3 when it comes to DOF control. While I too would like a compact mirror less full frame or even 6:7 (think digital mamiya 7) it doesn't exist. I've mostly been considering the e-m5; pro1 and nex 5n/nex 7 and they all seem to have trade offs. When they are available in a month or two I will see how they feel in the hand and how easy they are to use (i.e, evf/view finder full time). From what I've read/heard I'm leanings towards the e-m5 for a couple of reasons:
nice lens system (though the general zoom is still a blank - the 14-54 version 2 might be a reasonable option) with strong consideration for the 45f1.8, 25f.14 and 11-22 (or maybe just the 11-22 and the two primes)
-
The nex 7 seems a mix bag (there is the sensor issue that some have mentioned also auto focus is rather slow and it jpeg out of the camera is rather poor - while most folks might postprocess their image; there is something to be said for a camera that can produce jpeg as good as post processing to reduce time spent post processing). For the nex-7 I would use my old c/y lenses (25,28,35-70,85) and probably hunt around for something to fill in the wide end.
-
(not sure how good of the quality of sony's anti-dust system; olympus is suppsoe to be fairly good here)
-
For the pro-1 I'm hearing fairly bad things about the evf and auto focus; the 35f1.4 looks fairly decent. Also it is a bit more expensive as a system.
-
Anyways I'm not committed to a path but I just don't see the huge step between apsc and 4/3 with regards to DOF control.
