Strange I don't see it as such. The E-P3, besides its crap sensor, is pretty cool, I think. Most of the things we see in the E-M5 are pretty much "current" Oly tech save for that sensor & shutter+is unit. Even AF will probably not differ very much. The E-M5 is, to be honest, quite expensive and it seems to me there's still room in the price range for a 700-800€ PEN E-Px that would offer one of these so-so mixes Oly can do. So far, marketing wise, the OMD seems to aim at the E-x shooters, don't you think? different people than the PEN...even if it's actually PEN owners who are going to get them ;-)

What you describe as "besides its crap sensor" is to me at the core of it, why I think the PEN line is due for upgrade.
Considering the price, take an E-P3, add the price for a finder and you have very much arrived at the price of the E-M5. If you think the E-M5 is dear, then the E-P3 also is. It is a bit like a Mac. You are paying something for the design. Overall, I think Olympus can sustain 3 to 4 cameras. So if the top of the range goes OM-D line and the bottom stays PEN, then the E-Px line falls between the chairs.
I agree the E-P3 is cool - to me either black or white. It is the nicest design around at present. Unfortunately the technology is not up to it any more.
