It seems likely that the 100% live view issue might be hardware implementation related, but it is not like the camera needs to do something different for 50% live view magnification.... I hope that some software engineer just goofed up and they did not test it well, though.



What it looks like is that the images are sampled with a 50% resolution for data rate purposes, and upscaled when "magnified" more in a quick and ugly fashion.
