Most people *want* more of something. That's not the same as *needing* it. Dynamic range reached "good enough" for most a long time ago. Yes, advances in that area can prove beneficial to some, but lacking a little room at base ISO isn't a deal breaker for the overwhelming number of people out there. Look at the micro4/3 bunch, they've done rather well with even less for a long time.
Still, it is a bit disappointing that Canon don't seem to have made any advancement in this latest generation. I'm not optimistic the next generation APS-C workhorse sensor will be any better then...
