I don't disagree.
The problem is that Fred has made a big deal out of this.
Focusing accuracy for landscapes with wide angled lenses is way over rated.
You can focus at infinity and f8 for anything wider than 35mm and you will have all the dof you need from 1m to infinity.
So if you have MF lenses and you can hardly see what is in front of you, what exactly is the problem with turning the ring to infinity and just shoot?
IMO, people are just messing around by trying to manually focus and using LV in this situation.
