Not only the JPEG engine, as the RAW performance is also better in DPR review. They're only assuming, but a slightly revised sensor and better profiling (something Olympus seems to be good at) could explain this.
Pekka Potka did another post confirming his initial findings with RAW files too now that he could process them. While not rigorous, I like his "what I see" approach.
Some information gathered along my countless internet scanning of EM5 related news (that I'll look into) :
*the IS behaviour "hum" while uninteresting to me
*ability to kinda set a minimal shutter speed threshold for Auto ISO through the use of flash slow limit speed (seems like nothing, but actually pretty cool : in effect, it would give you a "nikon" like auto iso, sort of, to be confirmed).
*vastly improved C-AF performance if using certain "contrast boosted" profiles and shooting JPEG+RAW. Apparently, the sensor will perform contrast detection on the profiled picture -> more contrast -> faster/easier detection -> also benefits tracking, a lot it seems. And if shooting RAW+JPEG, you can just discard the horrible over contrasty JPEG file later.
Anyway, the more we learn, the happier I get but still no "silver kit" available for my preorder. I'm chewing my E-P1 to bits waiting this d*mn*d camera, look for the next guiness book for a new "camera eater" section.
cheers,
S.
