You2, I've been willing to do a proper test but the main issue is that I'm short of a tripod bracket (I'm using RRS L-brackets and they're not available yet) and my first series of "test" shots were just moving all over the place too much to offer any serious base.
Though I must say that as expected, I wasn't terribly impressed by the lens upon first pixel peeping but keep in mind I don't have much experience yet with the level of per pixel sharpness I can expect from the new sensor (3 years on the 12mp E-P1 sensor kinda shaped my expectations one way).
Initial impressions remain that of a friendly polyvalent lens though : motorized, mechanical, macro do it all kind of lens. I guess it's the kind of lens you need to befriend with over specific experiences "I remember that rainy day, I was with 12-50...". Also, I found that it's EXTREMELY fast, making the 14-45 almost pedestrian, and this lens was certainly no snail.
Interesting that you found the EVF so good compared to the NEX. I certainly like it : rendition & refresh rate. Could be that tad bigger but is certainly good enough. But I've been wondering about focus peeking to help.
Never mind though, as I type this, I just remembered I have a gorilla pod. I'll climb on the roof and try to make a quick serie to assess it.
Be back in an hour or so.
