I favor the 20mm because it is cheaper & smaller & wider. I've never really liked the 50mm lenses.
I know it's only a part of the story but resolution wise it's as good as it gets for this package. I never had to complain about its bokeh either. If it could be that little bit faster though... its slow whistling is starting to grow old. An ultrasonic mkII would be terrific.
It's no surprise a better zoom will be coming, it's announced so your idea is sound. Only reason I got the 12-50 was that I can see myself needing something robust & weatherproofed before I'm able to shell out 1k€.
The 14-54 will just be ridiculously unfriendly on it IMHO.But I'm only judging from the matching simulation.
I read about the banding issue, I'm yet to see it, but I'm aware.
As for prices of the fast standards, 329€ vs 525€ isn't exactly the same price range to me.
To my surprise, I agree with you, that 14-45mm is still in very good shape ! Actually, I was thinking that perhaps I've been suffering from adverse IS effects? That IBIS confidence is quite cool, you just turn every switches off and leave it to the body IS.
Greetings,
