The B&W conversion in Color Efex lacks a bit of control indeed, but I guess the guys at Nik wanted to be able to earn a bit of money with B&W too <img src='http://forum.photozone.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />.
Nik software also works in Lightroom, so if you would like to have a go at Silver Efex (with a temporary free version at first), that is an option too.
HTH, kind regards, Wim

Thank you, Wim. I think I should try the Silver Efex (I have heard many good words about it). I am a fan of Ansel Adams so I enjoy playing with BW images (although in a very non-professional way).
By the way, I find the images produced by the Leica M-M on the dpreview's hands-on review page look very impressive, including the jpeg images directly out of the camera. I think it is a lovely camera although the price is very high.
Best wishes,
Frank
