All in all, I hope it will not be the answer of Nikon to the crowd who complained about the 36mp without considering the other improved functionalities of D800. I still believe that I don't need 36mp resolution, but it's not the only thing in the package:



- D800 is 3.000$ (not too much if I can sell my D700 for ~2.000 dollars)

- D800 has improved AF capabilities in low light

- The metering sensor is improved (esp. for moving targets)

- D800's DX crop is 15mp and it's also equipped with a 25mp 1.2x crop (hello there WAs <img src='http://forum.photozone.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />)

- The DR is said to be very much promising

- D800 has a very decent body quality

- D800 has ~100% VF

- D800's user interface (buttons) are improved: dedicated BKT and LV buttons.

- D800 is equipped with an AF motor



So, even if Nikon puts a 1.500$ price tag on this 24mp FX body with lesser improvements than above, it will not be an easy decision. And moreover, the dropping second hand prices of D700 will not make life easier <img src='http://forum.photozone.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />...
