It is quite good when looking at real life photographs however. i've seen some amazing work done with it.
The trick is indeed to buy it as a kit with a body, by itself it is IMO rather overpriced, as it is about as expensive by itslef as a body plus this lens in a kit. Very compact, and no need to stop down for most type of work; quite nice IOW.
