Wow, the first person I have read about who buys an A450! What made you pick the liveview-less A450 over the A550?
Another option to consider might be the Sigma 18-50mm f2.8 EX DC Macro, or the new Sigma 17-50mm f2.8 EX DC OS HSM. Both are better built and better performing than the kit lens.

The live view is useful but not critical for me. And I’ve purchased the A-450 because it doesn’t have the tilting display, the construction of which is seem very unreliable two me.
The new Sigma 17-50mm f2.8 EX seem very interesting to me. But first of all I think it will be the best to see what results it will give on a-450/550. (I didn’t found any samples on the net).
The Zeiss ZA Vario-Sonnar T* 16-80mm f/3.5-4.5 DT has a more wider focal range and a better wider angle. It will be hard to choose! <img src='http://forum.photozone.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wacko.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />
