I suspect the Nikon D300s is about to be officially declared dead with the release of D600. There would be no economic market for a DX camera at the same price as the low end FX camera.
Market economics would also say that it is in both Nikons and Sonys best interests to share a mass produced 24MP sensor,but that doesn't mean that notions of corporate pride and honour may not get into the way. But is one thing for Nikon to put its own sensor in a lower volume model such as the D3 or D4 and a camera that they hope will sell many times more.
