In the 24-70 f2.8 Nikkor reviews field curvature is pointed out in the APS-C review, but no mention is made in the full frame review.
I bought TWO 24-70mm lenses and one after the other field curvature and fringing were so bad that only the central portion of the images were sharp at f8 on a D800. I returned the lenses and got my money back.
Imagine being 50metres in front of a line of buildings or a line of trees. The middle is sharpbut the sides are unsharp, and the tops of buildings and/or trees are completely out of focus, completely, whereas the grass verge you are standing on at the base of the image-50metres out of focus at any aperture is almost shap.
That's field curvature. You cannot photograph a bus queue and get everyone in focus.
Do NOT bother buying these lenses, except for APS-C, where you might get away with it.
Nikon whom I phoned, looking for an alternative, refused to recommend the 24-85mm f3.5-4.5 VR as they said "I would be disapponted.
If you go to the Nikon France Flickr site and look at the full-sized images from this lens you'll see why, and there is a Japanese site :

That has more samples to disgust you!
Check out the fringing on the 70mm wire fence shot-which is not at all sharp, and the falloff in resolution going right in the background of the tanker shot, etc.
If the 28mm also has problems we are in a fix!!
