Nikon F-mount is about 4cm from the film/sensor, not 18mm. That is a big difference, where optics and angles and involved. But more importantly, Nikon F-mount has the contacts tucked away so that FF is not a problem.
Same can not be said for E-mount, though (see above attached image, and compare with the D3 here) :
